What is a Business Analyst?

A business analyst is a conduit between the business and IT teams. If a company wants to improve how they do things, then this is where a business analyst comes in.

They will engage key stakeholder across the company whether these be top level executives or everyday employees to understand what challenges they are facing and what their goals are. Questions will be asked to gather information to dig deep into the details of how things are currently done. Once there is a clear picture this information will be analysed to find areas whether it be system or processes that can be improved.

A business analyst is there to understand the business requirements which will in turn lead to solutions. They will look at underlying data, map out processes and understand what’s working and what is not. Practical recommendations will then be made on how things can be improved whether it be streamlining operations, improving products, or implementing new technologies.

In addition to their role, they also help to guide how projects are ran, ensuring that everyone is aligned with the project scope and that the proposed solutions are feasible, effective and meet the needs of the business. They work closely with the business and technical teams to turn their ideas into reality.

Good business analysts are great communicators and problem solvers. They make complex information understandable and help businesses navigate change smoothly. By improving processes and finding innovative solutions, they play a key role in helping companies grow and succeed.
